NorthWest Aquatics a newly established club training out of Niles North and Niles West High Schools is seeking assistant coaches to become part of our coaching staff for the start of the Short Course 2010-2011 Season.  The coaches will be working with our Senior Prep Group and Age Group Program, averaging 8-10 hours per week.  The applicant must have experience in the sport of swimming; 2 years coaching experience, with great technical skills and minimum ASCA Level 2 is required; current safety certifications, membership in good standing with USA Swimming (or ability to obtain safety certifications and membership), and must be fingerprinted and pass a background check (in addition to the USA Swimming mandated background check) prior to commencing coaching. The applicant must be willing and able to work during the hours 5:30 to 8:45pm Monday through Friday and 11:00am to 3:00pm on Saturdays.  Attendance at meets during the season may be required.

08-04-2010 Elgin Cyclones Gold Group Coach

The Elgin Cyclones are currently looking for a hard working, dedicated, and experienced, Gold Group coach.  The Gold Group consists of swimmers ranging in age from 10-13 years of age.  Swimmer’s have a wide range of abilities from regional and state qualifiers to the novice swimmer with all swimmers possessing a strong motivation to succeed.  A relatively new team, the Cyclones are growing into one of the areas most exciting teams.  Based out of The Centre of Elgin, the Cyclones use an 8 lane 25 yard lap pool for practices and meets.

All applicants must have experience in coaching, good communication skills, a working knowledge of the stroke fundamentals, and an understanding of athlete development.  The ideal candidate should posses a current USA Swimming certification as well as a current ASCA certification.  Coaches will be responsible for the supervising, training, and evaluation of all swimmers.  They will also be responsible for the recruitment and retainment of all athletes.  Age Group Coach will report to the Aquatic Supervisor.  Coaches must pass background and drug screening prior to hire.  All coaches will be required to become certified in CPR/first aid within 6 months of hire date.  Salary discussed upon comparison with experience and qualifications.  The City will also reimburse some training and other costs.

CWAC is looking for an age group coach at their Evergreen Park location. The Silver II team includes kids ages 9-12 who are at or near the regional times. This group continues to build on swimming technique while introducing swimmers to more intense training.  Swimmers are proficient in all four competitive strokes.  Conditioning training increases as each swimmer progresses.  Practice times are 1.5 – 2 hours for 4 weeknights and a Saturday morning practice. 08-02-2010 PAWW Assistant Coach

POSITION: Part-time (25 - 32 hours per week)

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree with a major in Physical Education and/or Recreation, or closely related field. Although a degree is preferred, extensive experience in a like position with similar duties and responsibilities may be substituted for all or part of the educational requirement.
  • Minimum of one year experience in swim team coaching. A level 2 ASCA rating is preferred.
  • Ability to demonstrate an appropriate attitude to motivate, teach, and train young athletes.
  • Possess a current USA Swimming Coach Certification (or ability to apply for one).
  • Knowledge of stroke technique, athlete development, pool equipment, pool mechanical systems, and related aquatic rules and regulations.
  • Exhibit outstanding communication skills.

DUTIES:

  • Assist Head Coach in the supervision of all swim levels from novice to elite senior athlete.
  • Responsible for training and competition of the Silver age group.
  • Support and ensure the Minnow and Bronze coaches teach/train skills consistent with PAWW.
  • Actively support competitive swimming by encouraging and developing young swimmers.
  • Assist Head Coach in brochure development, PPD Playbook preparation, public relations, marketing, and team communications including the PAWW website.
  • Fill in during Head Coach’s absence at all PAWW Parent Club Board meetings.
  • Prepare and deliver presentations to groups and other swim teams as needed.
  • All other duties as assigned.

OTHER:

  • Some evenings and weekends will be required.
  • Some traveling will be required.
  • Salary range is $14.00 - $16.00 per hour.

The COHO Swim Club is a highly competitive and comprehensive developmental program for swimmers in Deerfield, Highland Park, and surrounding communities. Founded in 1971, COHO is a sponsored program of the Deerfield Park District and an affiliated program of the Park District of Highland Park with a long standing, rich tradition and history of success on the North Shore.

We have over 300 registered swimmers annually and we are currently one of only 2 swim clubs in Illinois that has reached Level 3 of the USA Swimming Club Recognition Program. Our staff includes 3 full time and 10 to 12 part time, highly trained and dedicated coaches ranging from Level 1 to Level 4 of the American Swim Coaches Association (ASCA).

We focus on helping swimmers of all ages and abilities have fun, develop friendships, set goals, and experience success in the best possible team setting. Program Description:
Springfield YMCA, Springfield, IL has openings on the swim team coaching staff.  The SPY team is a 140- member age-group team.  SPY is a YMCA focused team with year-round and USA competition options.  Currently, the team swims in a 4-lane pool with some early am slots but primarily with late afternoon, evening and Sunday practice times.  An indoor community pool and an outdoor 50 meter pool are available on a limited basis.  The team is comprised of social swimmers to national qualifiers in keeping with the Y rules for competitive sports; Everybody swims, Everybody wins.  In 2010, 59 swimmers competed at the Y Area meet which is comprised of 49 Y teams from Illinois and Missouri.  In this meet the team placed 4th in the boys (10-1st place finishes) and 5th in the girls (4-1st place finishes). Additionally, there were three YMCA National Qualifiers.    We conduct a strong summer program and compete in USA Swim meets, The team has several Illinois Senior State, Illinois Age Group Championships, and Mid-State Zone qualifiers.  In the fall of 2011, the Y will open an 8-lane competitive pool with meet seating, parking and advanced technology.   There is a strong parent advisory group and the competitive program is an integral part of the Y aquatic program.  The Y’s instructional program serves over 400 youth each 8-week session.

The team currently has a vacancy in the head coach position. We will explore two options to fill this vacancy.  In option one, we would fill the position with a full-time exempt staff person.  Option two would be splitting the full-time position into two part-time positions, Team Manager and Head Swim Team Coach. Based on the applicant pool, we will decide which leadership option is best for the team.  In addition, we are recruiting applicants for the position(s) of Assistant Swim Coach

Sheridan Swim Team is a 501c3 club which operates year round where the Head Coach reports directly to the Board of Directors.  We practice at the Sheridan Swim Club utilizing (2) two of its (5) five pools, located in Quincy, IL. Sheridan Swim Team is closely affiliated with Sheridan Swim Club, a members only recreational swim club. Sheridan is widely regarded as one of the finest swimming facilities in the State of Illinois and boasts the only 10 lane 50 meter pool in the State. Sheridan also has an indoor 25 yard pool with a diving well and an outdoor 25 meter T-shaped pool. 

The following programs are part of our Team:  Sheridan Swim Team, Learn-to-Swim program, Masters program, and all age group levels .  The Sheridan Swim Team has approximately 75 members on its Senior and Age Group teams with participants at all skill levels including Age Group State Champions and Jr. National swimmers. 
The Head Coach will be responsible for the training of the Senior swim team in addition to coordinating all Age Group team instruction.  The Head Coach will be responsible for the overall development and administration of the teams.   In addition, the Head Coach will be in charge of the scheduling for all programs.  The Head Coach will consult with the Board of Directors concerning the Team’s. Finally, the Head Coach should be passionate about the sport of swimming and be responsible for the day-to-day and long-term direction of all aspects of the Team.

The Glenbrook Aquatics Club is seeking well-qualified coaching candidates to apply for the full time head senior coaching position.  Glenbrook Aquatics is a full-service aquatic club with an age group and senior swimming program as well as water polo, diving and a structured Swim America lesson program. 

Glenbrook Aquatics is run through the Glenbrook School District 225 and is located in Northbrook & Glenview, Illinois.  Glenbrook Aquatic Club is a USA Swimming Club that strives to help athletes of all different levels reach their potential through a structured program and philosophy.  One goal is to move motivated athletes from the novice to the elite levels of the program and competitions.
 
JOB REQUIREMENTS: The successful candidate must have a background in senior level coaching and development of adolescent athletes; have excellent teaching skills and technical knowledge of competitive swimming. Current CPR, First Aid, and Safety Training for Swimming Coaches certifications are required.  Passing the USA Swimming background check as well as a club background check is mandatory.  ASCA certification level 3 or higher is desired. 
 
RESPONSIBILITIES: The Head Senior Coach is responsible for all aspects related to the planning, preparation, and implementation of a comprehensive training and teaching plan designed to motivate the athletes to personal improvement and progress to the senior training groups Glenbrook Aquatics has to offer. The Senior Age Groups would include swimmers from beginners to our National team; developing appropriate practices that both challenge& motivate the swimmers in order to maximize their potential within the philosophy of the Glenbrook Aquatic Program; preparing meet entries; attend
swim meets as assigned; perform various administrative duties as assigned; attend monthly Board meetings; and perform other duties as assigned including the complete website aspect of the team.  Successful candidates will possess the following minimum skills; excellence in communication with athletes, parents and other coaches, ability to supervise senior coaches for all levels of our senior program, experience with website technology and experience running a full senior program.  
 
COMPENSATION:   Salary and benefits are included, and will be based on experience and the District 225 pay scale.

Lyons Swim Club is a 501c3 club which operates year round where the Head Coach reports directly to the Board of Directors.  We practice at Lyons Township High School’s three pools, located in La Grange and Western Springs. 
The following programs are part of our club:  Lyons Swim Team, a Master’s Program, a Water Polo Program and an instructional Dive Program.  The Lyons Swim team has approximately 400 members on its Senior and Age Group teams with participants at all skill levels including Age Group State Champions and Jr. National swimmers. 
The Head Coach will be responsible for the training of the Senior swim team in addition to coordinating all Age Group team instruction.  The Head Coach will be responsible for the overall development and administration of the teams.   In addition, the Head Coach will be in charge of the scheduling for all programs.  All assistant swim coaches, water polo coaches, dive coaches and masters coaches will report to the Head Coach. The Head Coach will consult with the Board of Directors concerning the Club’s budget and be responsible for the hiring of assistants and other personnel. Finally, the Head Coach should be passionate about the sport of swimming and be responsible for the day-to-day and long-term direction of all aspects of the club.
Candidates should have an ASCA Level 2 Certification or above. Salary will be competitive and dependent on experience, education, and background.  We are looking for a Head Coach with experience in a leadership role, recruiting, training and supervising staff.  The Head Coach must be knowledgeable in Hy-Tek Swimming Management Software (Team, Meet and Business).

02-11-2010 Mudelein Mustangs Assistant Coach

Mundelein Swim Club located in Mundelein, Illinois is seeking a part time Assistant Coach to join our staff. The position is available beginning 5/1/2010 and will be open until it is filled. MMSC trains at Mundelein High School in a 6 lane 25 yard by 25 meter natatorium.
Assistant Coach responsibilities include:

  • Work with our newest and youngest swimmers on a daily basis.
  • Working with young swimmers to teach them stronger technical and training skills.
  • Hours of work will consist of 3-5 evenings a week and Saturday Mornings for approximately 6-7 hours and weekend meets as needed.
  • Practices are held in the evenings and Saturday mornings.
  • The assistant coach reports directly to the Head Coach

Qualifications: Applicants should have prior coaching experience or swimming experience and hold or be willing to obtain the following certifications: Coaches Safety Training, CPR and First Aid (as is required to obtain USA Swimming Coaching credentials).
Compensation: This is an hourly position and the rate will be commensurate with experience. MMSC will also cover the costs of required certifications and USA Swimming membership.

02-10-2010 Ultimate Swimming Assistant Coach

Ultimate swimming located in Hillside, IL is seeking a part time assistant coach to join our staff. The position is available immediately. Ultimate swimming trains at Proviso West High School in a six lane 25 yard pool. Head coach Pierre Ruffin is the only coach thus far on staff.
Responsibilties include:

  • Assist the head coach in running practice group
  • Working with young swimmers to teach them stronger technical and training skills
  • Hours of work will consist of 3-5 evenings/week for approximately 12 hours/week plus meets

Qualifications:

  • Applicants should have previous college swimming experience    and some  coaching experience is preferred but not necessary

Compensation:

  • The position will be paid on an hourly basis

01-28-2010 Elgin Cyclones Age Group Coach

The Elgin Cyclones are currently looking for a hard working, dedicated, and experienced, age group coach.  A relatively new team, the Cyclones are growing into one of the areas most exciting teams.  Based out of The Centre of Elgin, the Cyclones use an 8 lane 25 yard lap pool for practices and meets.

All applicants must have experience in coaching, good communication skills, a working knowledge of the stroke fundamentals, and an understanding of athlete development.  The ideal candidate should posses a current USA Swimming certification as well as a current ASCA certification.  Coaches will be responsible for the supervising, training, and evaluation of all swimmers.  They will also be responsible for the recruitment and retainment of all athletes.  Age Group Coach will report to the Aquatic Supervisor.  Coaches must pass background and drug screening prior to hire.  All coaches will be required to become certified in CPR/first aid within 6 months of hire date.  Salary discussed upon comparison with experience and qualifications.  The City will also reimburse some training and other costs.

01-21-2010 Dundee Dolphins Swim Team Head Coach

Dundee Township Park District has an exciting opportunity for a Head Coach for the Dundee Dolphins.  The Head Coach is responsible for designing a program philosophy and program description that will achieve the objectives established by the Park District. The Head Coach will manage and aid with administrating and establishing policy for all aspects of the program dealing directly with coaching, training, developing swimmers, competition and preparing a season plan.

Candidates shall have current USA Swimming coaching and safety certification. ASCA certification or the desire to complete to level two and beyond is preferred.
The ideal candidate will be a college graduate with a background in competitive swimming.  The candidate should be experienced with Hy-Tek operation including Meet Manager, Team Manager and Business Manager.  Web site management experience is a plus.

Candidates for this position must be energetic and able to motivate all levels of swimming ability in addition to teaching basic and advanced stroke technique.
This position begins immediately, prior to the start of the 2010 Long Course season.  Salary will be commensurate with experience.

Will manage all aspects of the Swim Team.
 
Responsible for planning, promoting, and coordinating programs for youth, teens, and families. Programs can include: leagues, instructional programs, teen clubs, and evening and weekend family activities. Also responsible for recruiting, training, and supervising staff, managing departments, creating new programs, expanding existing programs, as well as, other outreach efforts.
 
Requirements: Bachelors Degree in Physical Education, Social Services, Recreation, or equivalent education experience, and 1-2 year(s) of relevant experience. Must possess the ability to relate well with youth, parents, and volunteers. Candidates must have previous supervisory, fiscal, and program development experience, and be able to meet the physical demands of leading group activities. Must also possess the ability to lead and motivate program staff, and work well as a team. Current CPR and First Aid certifications are required.
