Illinois Swimming House of Delegates approved three Long Course Summer Regional Meets to be held July 23-25, 2010. Meets shall be held in short course facilities.  Club assignments and awarding of Meet Hosts are forthcoming. 1/21/10

Illinois Swimming is happy to announce we have finalized our partnership agreement with Hilton Hotels as the “Official Hotel of Illinois Swimming”.  You will notice the banner link-to for Hilton on the Illinois Swimming website Main Page as well as on the Meets section. To receive discounts at any Hilton Hotel property you must register as a HiltonHonors member.  Click on the Hilton link and go to the register section.  It’s easy and Illinois Swimming members will be able to receive discounted rates as well as HilonHonors points for themselves or their clubs. Members will be able to utilize this link for accommodations to any swim meets that they will be attending that require overnite stays, any vacation plans that they might need, or for business travel purposes as well.  As our membership usage increases with eAdvantage, discount rates to Illinois Swimming members will become greater. Congratulation to all the swimmers at the Olympic TrialsSpeedo Short Course Junior National Championships. Congratulations to Matt Elliott from the Peoria Area Water Wizards who finished First in the Men 200 Yard Breast; First in the Men 100 Yard Breast; Third in the Men 200 Yard IM and Sixth in the Men 400 Yard IM.   On the women side - Emily Fogle of Patriot Aquatics Club finished Seventh in the Women 200 Yard Breast and in the Women 100 Yard Breast she finished Fifth and Angela Chokran from St Charles Swim Team finished Eight in that event.  Continued Good Luck to these swimmers and all the swimmers that participated in Nationals and Junior Nationals. 10/16/09

Congratulation to all the swimmers at the Olympic TrialsBanquet Update.The 2009 Annual Athlete Recognition Banquet was held on Sunday, Oct 11.  The banquet which was a tribute to US Paralympians, honored the top three Illinois Swimming athletes in combined age groups of 10 and under, 11/12, 13/14, 15/16 and 17/18 from the 2009 Short Course and Long Course seasons.  Additionally, awards were presented to the following:   Male Swimmer of the Year:  Kyle Bubolz (New Trier Swim Club) ;  Female Swimmer of the Year: Adrienne Bicek (Express Swim Team); Male Breakthrough Swimmer of the Year: Sam Metz (New Trier Swim Club); Female Breakthrough Swimmer of the Year: Angela Chokran (St Charles Swim Team); Age Group Coach of the Year: Jon Cabel (St Charles Swim Team); Senior Coach of the Year: Bob Kizer (New Trier Swim Club); Don Drumm Award: Short Course - Academy Bullets Swim Club; Long Course - Redbird Swim Club; Carolyn Lambert Award: Long Course and Short Course - Academy Bullets Swim Club;  Volunteer of the Year: Jim Audet (Hinsdale Swim Club); and the ConocoPhillips Outstanding Service Award: Jessica Bogie (Delta Aquatics).  Congratulations to all! 10/21/09

Congratulation to all the swimmers at the Olympic Trials Zones Update. The 2010 Age Group Championship Central Zones meet was awarded to the Kenosha Barracuda Swim Team.  Meet will be held at the Lakeview RecPlex - Kenosha.  Illinois Swimming will be securing hotel room block shortly and that information will be passed along to all clubs.  Dates for this event are August 6 through August 8, 2010 (Open water date TBA). 9/22/09

USA Swimming has announced the following Illinois swimmers will be members of the Junior National Team that will be competing at Vancouver in May: Mitch Stoehr (Lake Forest Swim Club), Sam Metz (New Trier Swim Club), Matt Elliott (Peoria Area Water Wizards), Olivia Scott (Academy Bullets), Jacob Jarzen (currently unattached, swims for Springfield USA), and Angie Chokran (St Charles Swim Club). Additionally these former Illinois swimmers have been announced to the 2010 National Team:  Emily Hanson, Matt Grevers, Tyler McGill, Mary Descenza, Christine Magnuson. 9/2/09

Congratulation to all the swimmers at the Olympic TrialsMary DeScenza Sets World Record. Congraulations to Illinois Swimmers Mary DeScenza who set a world record in the prelims of the women’s 200m butterfly Wednesday, turning in a time of 2:04.14. The former mark, held by China’s Zige Liu stood at 2:04.18. This is thought to be only the third individual World Record ever set by an Illinois swimmer, and the first since Tom Jager in 1990. 7/29/09

Congratulation to all the swimmers at the Olympic TrialsCongratulations to Illinois Swim Coaches.  The American Swimming Coaches Association (ASCA) annually recognizes those coaches who coach a swimmer to a Top-8 finish at one of several USA National Level Championships.  This recognition is the Award of Excellence list.  Special congratulations to the following Illinois Swimming coaches on being named to that prestigious list:  Judy Busse (Express Swim Team); Andy Grevers (Wildcat Aquatics) and Bob Kizer (New Trier Swim Club). 6/22/09
