Scholastic All American Information. Each year, USA Swimming recognizes its members who excel both in the classroom and in the pool. The Scholastic All-America Team is made up of high school student-athletes who have a grade point average of 3.5 or higher and who have achieved the required time standard in a single event. To be eligible for this recognition, swimmers must have completed 10th, 11th or 12th grade and must be a USA Swimming member athlete. Eligible times must be swum between July 1, 2011 and June 30, 2012. The application must be completed by August 15. Details 5/9/12
Hy-Tek Software Rules Announcement. Due to technical difficulties, the Rules & Regulations Committee is postponing the effective date of Rule 102.24.4 until further notice. Those who may have downloaded the update to Hy-tek Meet Manager 4.0 sent out on April 30, 2012 should revert to their previous version of Meet Manager. Details 5/7/12

NCSA Juniors Results. Congratulations to all the Illinois Swimming athletes that competed in the National Club Swimming Junior Nationals in Orlando, FL. Special acknowledgement to the New Trier Swim Club which finished First in Men’s Team Scores, Fifth in Women’s Team Scores and Third in Combined Team Score; Academy Bullets Swim Club which finished Fourth in Women’s Team Scores, Ninth in Men’s Teams and Fifth in Combined Team Scores; NASA Wildcat Aquatics which finished Eight in Men’s Team Scores and Tenth in Combined Team Scores and St Charles Swim Team which finished eleventh in Women’s Team Scores. NCAA Results. Congratulations to Kevin Cordes (FOX) on setting the U.S. record in the 100 yard Breaststroke at the NCAA Men’s Swimming and Diving Championships. Kevin swam 51.32 and broke the record previously held by Mike Alexandov (51.35). Additional recognition to Sam Metz (NTSC) on his contributions to the University of California’s team efforts in winning their second consecutive team title. Congratulations also to Jacob Hanson (BNY) who finished 7th in the 200 back. For all the men’s NCAA results click here. Breaststroke Pull Rules Interpretation. On March 7, 2012, FINA issued an interpretation of the breaststroke rule covering the initiation of the arm pull. This interpretation also applies to correctly judging the timing of the single butterfly kick which may follow initiation of the arm pull. Read the compete interpretation here. 3/21/12

National Record Breakers! Congratulations to the New Trier H.S. Boys 400 Free Relay Team on being named the Chicago Tribune/Channel 9 Preps Plus Athletes of the Month for February 2012. The 400-yard freestyle relay of Sam Skinner, Reed Malone, Jack Mangan and Max Grodecki became the first high school relay to break the three-minute mark, posting a time of 2 minutes, 59.76 seconds, a national record. 3/5/12
