Illinois Swimming Mission Statement

The mission of Illinois Swimming is to govern in a fiscally responsible manner in accordance with USA Swimming and Illinois Swimming by-laws and rules and regulations; to support the growth and development of our membership through educational initiatives, financial assistance and program development at all levels; to promote the sport, athletes and membership to achieve excellence in swimming

Regional Coaches Clinics. In conjunction with USA Swimming, Illinois Swimming is pleased to announce we will be hosting three Regional Coaches Clinics. On Oct 1, 2, 3 there will be two clinics held: one will be at the Hilton / Northbrook, 2855 N. Milwaukee, Northbrook and the other will be held at the Hilton Lisle/Naperville, 3003 Corporate West Drive, Lisle. On Oct 15,16,17 there will be a clinic held at the Hilton Springfield, 700 East Adams. Registration will be conducted via the USA Swimming website and will begin first week of Sept. For tentative Schedule of Events see the Coaches Education page. 8/16/10

Top 10 Lists Posted. Preliminary top ten lists for long course 2010 are now posted on the Records page to the left. All updates must be submitted to the ISI office by September 5. Congratulations to all swimmers who appear on the lists! 8/23/10

Junior Pan Pac Team. Congratulations and Best of Luck to Illinois Swimming athletes Kevin Cordes (FOX), Matt Elliott (PAWW) and Haley Sims (EXPR) who will be competing in the Junior Pan Pacific Championships Aug 26-30 in Maui, Hawaii. This event features the top National Youth Teams from the Pacific Rim including the United States, Canada, Australia and Japan. The Junior Pan Pacific Championships represent the top international youth competition of 2010 and provides a showcase for the top swimming talent of tomorrow. 8/18/10

Congratulations Zones Swimmers. Congratulations to all Illinois Swimmers who participated in the 2010 Zones Meet. Team Illinois finished first, outpacing runner up Wisconsin by nearly 1000 points! Special congrats to Kathryne Tao, Avery Braunecker, Annie Gosselin, Laurynn Havard, Ingrid Wall, Heather Rady, Avery Braunecker, Kierston Farley-Sepe, Annie Gosselin, Laurynn Havard, Kierston Farley-Sepe, Pauline Kaminski, Ethan Morse, Spencer Hohm, Mitchell Milosch, Jack Levant, Mitchell Milosch, Harrison Fudge, James Ryan, Daniel Hein, James Ryan, Jesus Juarez, and Kevin Garza who were Zones Champions and/or record breakers. Swim Team Store/Illinois Swimming August "Athletes of the Month." The August award recipients are Clare Keenan from Midway Aquatics Club and Jazmyne Fannings from Chicago South Swim Club Congratulations to these two athletes - your swimming success, academic achievements, citizenship, social responsibility and leadership skills exemplify the ideals of this award and Illinois Swimming. Congratulations to Coach Vlad Pyshnenko. Coach Vlad set the World Record at the XIII FINA World Masters Championships held in Sweden. Coach Vlad swam a 51.72 in the 100m Free in the 40-44 age group. 8/3/10

Good Luck to all the Illinois Swimming participants in the ConocoPhillips National Championships (Aug 3-7) and the Speedo Junior National Championships (Aug 9-13). Both events will be held at the William Woolett Jr Aquatics Center in Irvine, CA. The 2010 ConocoPhillips National Championships will also serve as trials for numerous events, including the 2010 Mutual of Omaha Pan Pacific Championships to be held in Irvine later in August and the Speedo Junior National Championships, along with the ConocoPhillips USA Swimming National Championships, is one of two meets in which swimmers may qualify for the 2010 Junior Pan Pacific Championships to be held in Maui, Hawaii, later in August. 8/2/10

2010 Illinois Swimming “Volunteer of the Year” Nominations Sought. The Illinois Swimming “Volunteer of the Year” award was created by Illinois Swimming in 2007 to recognize the efforts of an outstanding volunteer from one of the clubs within Illinois Swimming. The idea and funding for this award was made possible by an anonymous donation. Each Illinois Swimming club is eligible to nominate one volunteer from their club to be considered for this award and all nominations must be received in the ISI Office by August 1, 2010. Forms will be reviewed by a panel and the winner will be honored at the ISI Annual Athlete Recognition Banquet Oct. 10. Nomination Form 7/14/10

Illinois Swimming Teams Up with National College Scouting Association. One of the most difficult tasks student-athletes, parents and coaches face is the college recruitment process. To help with that task, Illinpis Swimming has partnered with National Collegiate Scouting Association. details 6/23/10

Irish Long Course Championships Results. Illinois Swimming athletes fared very well at the recent Irish LC Championship. These swimmers were selected to the All Star team based on their performances at the NCSA Junior National Championships which were held in Orlando March 16-20. Emily Fogle (PAC): First in the 50M Breaststroke; member of the 400M Medley Relay which finished second; Haley Sims (EXPR): member of 400M Free Relay which finished second; member of 800M Free Relay which finished second; Second in the 100M Butterfly; member of 400 Medley Relay which finished third; Kevin Cordes (FOX): First in the 50M Breaststroke; Second in the 100M Breaststroke; First in the 200M Breaststroke; Jon Williamson (RED): member of 800M Free Relay that finished Third; Daniel Tucker (MAV): member of 400M Medley Relay which finished First; Second in the 50M Freestyle; Dan Thomson (HSC) Second in the 1500 M Freestyle, member of the 800 free relay which finished third. USA Race of the Week. Congratulations - the Speedo Illinois Swimming Senior Championship Meet 200 Mens Breastroke in which Matt Elliott from PAWW set an Illinois Swimming record was voted Race of the Week. The USA Swimming House of Delegates, at its September 2009 meeting, adopted new rules regarding swimwear which limited swimsuits used for competitive purposes to those swimsuits which are in compliance with specifications established by FINA, the international governing body for the sport of swimming...Full Article 1/27/10
